Associated British Ports: Demonstration of a fuel cell powered terminal tractor at the Port of Immingham

This demonstration offered the opportunity to demonstrate the use of hydrogen in port equipment within trial operations at Immingham Container Terminal, at the Port of Immingham. It investigated whether hydrogen is a feasible replacement for diesel in a busy 24/7 port operation and how it would compare in terms of cost and performance to alternative vehicles. The aim was to highlight the key challenges and benefits of deploying hydrogen in a port including how to manage safety concerns such as exclusion zones and to disseminate key learnings across relevant industries and stakeholders.
